Crash Description:
On February 10, 2023, Jackson was a passenger in a car involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer. Jackson was wearing a seatbelt, and although the driver of the vehicle was traveling under the speed limit given the inclement weather, the car hydroplaned and collided with an 18- wheeler. Jackson was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The police report indicated that the cause of the hydroplaning and overall crash was due to extremely worn tires with insufficient tread. It was also later found that the truck was following too closely and going over the speed limit.
Life After the Crash:
After the crash, Jackson’s family (led by his father, Alex) founded the Road Ready Foundation, which is committed to educating communities on the importance of tire safety. Through education and tire-specific programs and initiatives, their goal is for more drivers to make informed decisions about tire care and maintenance.
