Daniel’s favorite thing to do, above all else, was spending time with his family.
Crash Description
On March 31, 2021, Daniel was driving his work truck through Wyoming when another truck headed west crossed the median and entered the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with Daniel’s truck. The collision caused both trucks to explode into flames, fatally injuring Daniel.
Life After the Crash
Life has changed drastically for Kim and the boys after the loss of Daniel. Now a single mom, Kim had to move the family from the farm they loved into town to be closer to people to help out. Before the crash, she was working part-time as a nurse and has since had to take on full-time work to better support her growing boys.
Kim decided to share her story, so she traveled to Washington, DC with the Institute for Safer Trucking to help raise awareness about the need to increase the minimum insurance requirements for interstate motor carriers. She is also focused on educating the public about the importance of truck driver training and safe hiring decisions. Daniel, a hard-working and safety-conscious truck driver that loved to teach others how to operate a truck safely, was killed by an unsafe truck driver that should not have even been allowed behind the wheel of a big. Kim hopes that by sharing their story, people will remember that there is a human cost to unsafe driving.
